Yoga for Youth Sports and Teams

Yoga has been used by collegiate and professional athletes for decades, to improve strength, speed and focus as a key means to achieve competitive advantage.
At an individual level, the impact can be significant; however, at the team-level, the impact is spectacular!
How does Yoga help?
What does doing "yoga" really mean?

Whether you play Baseball, football, Swim, Golf or Run ... Regular practice of Yoga, even for One hour per week, will improve:

Mental Focus
Yoga teaches you how to become more aware, and with that awareness comes an understanding of how to prepare and align your mind with your body with your Breath. It is about teaching yourself discipline, but doing in in a natural way, on your own terms.

Flexibility
As athletes focus on increasing muscle mass and density, many lose sight of the importance of maintaining flexibility. We have all seen young children bend and twist in ways that seem as they are made of plastic. That flexibility is critical to athletics as it enable you to move across a grater range of motion, and minimizing injury. Shoulder joints, Knee joints, and other crucial parts of the body are always at risk for injury if the flexibility is not addressed

Strength and Balance
Yoga challenges you to flow smoothly from one pose to another, while keeping complete control of your strength and balance as you take on more challenging poses. Unlike Weight training, which tends to isolate muscles to attain the gains desired, yoga forces you to use all of your muscles, in unison. The balance and centering that is developed as a result is where true competitive advantage is gained.
Muscular strength with Muscular balance and centering are the keys to competitive advantage

Reduce Stress and Anxiety
The more you practice yoga, the more you learn to become more aware of your body and breath, and the more aligned you become with the needs of the body. Stress that you feel - at work, at home, or in the sporting field, are absorbed and held within your body as well as your mind. Yoga will teach you to release that stress; more importantly , you will learn to become aware of that stress before it impact your athletic performance.
